Recently asked Questions about Angus Aran Knitwear.

Q. Is the wool you use really 100% wool.?

A.. Yes absolutely. I only use 100% pure new wool made by one of the few remaining working heritage mills in Scotland. The wool is spun on a 19th century spinning mule and is far superior to other wools I have tried. You can now buy the same wool that I use here from my web site. The wool maybe be slightly more expensive than other wools but I refuse to compromise on quality and find it worth that little extra.

Q..I do not see a pattern I like, is this your complete range ?

A.. There are hundred's of different Aran patterns available and it is not feasible to put them all on my site. If you have a pattern in mind that you have, I will be more than happy to knit the Aran for you. You can send me an e-mail to discuss your ideas in more detail.

Q.. I notice that you sell 100% Aran wool on the cone. Is this for knitting machines.?

A.. The wool on the cones is the exact same wool as is for sale as balls and are suitable for hand knitting. The cones come on 1100g cones which is the minimum weight. There is usually more than the 1100g on a cone. There are also some part cones available which vary in weight and are all 1 offs.

Q.. I am getting different style pages appearing when I surf your site, why ?

A.. According to my web designer it is because the site is being updated with the 'new' look and until the changes are complete there will still be old style pages appearing. Also the search engines and directories may be holding some older pages in their 'cache'. I am reassured though that the buying process is not effected in any way. If you do have any problems, please let me know.

Q.. What measurements do you require ?

A.. During the order process all I need to know is your chest size. I will contact you to find out the sleeve length which is measured from the armpit to the cuff and the body length which is measured from the nape of the neck to the hem. Ideally if you have a sweater that fits you perfectly then you can take the measurements from this.

Q.. Do I have to order and pay online ?

A.. To cater for all of my clients I accept various methods of payment. Credit and Debit card payments are all done online using PayPal which is very secure and I never have access to any card details. You can pay by online banking by transferring the funds electronically, you can pay by UK cheque or postal order. If you prefer to order offline just drop me an e-mail and I will contact you with the details.

Q.. Are there any hidden charges ?

A.. No, absolutely not. The price shown on the pages are the final price which is fully inclusive of packing, shipping and insurance. All orders are required to be signed for on delivery.

Q.. Why does it take up to 30 days for my order to arrive ?

A.. An adult size Aran takes between 40 and 60 hours to complete. As each Aran is hand made there is no pre - knitted Aran's that can be taken from stock and sent out overnight. The 30 days allows me to finish the current order before I can start the next one. Depending on how many orders come in at any time delivery can be as soon as 10 days but allowing 30 days is a realistic time frame and avoids disappointment. Always check for the latest delivery times on the 'home page'.
Please note that nearer Christmas things tend to become busier and the delivery times may be extended. The 'Home Page' will show the expected delivery schedule when it may be longer than 30 days.

Q.. When will I know when to expect my Aran to arrive ?

A.. I will keep you informed each step of the way by e-mail. All orders are sent 'Special Delivery' and arrive the next day before 1pm in the UK. For overseas orders you can check where your order is by using an order code and logging onto the Royal Mail web site which tracks the shipping process.
